Hike above Dawson City

We did a 4 hour hike above Dawson city today. more of that when this epistle eventually catches up! This really is impressive country and Dawson is a unique mix of history, renovation and tourism. Friendly people also.
Today, I am posting some of the wild flowers een enroute. There are so many varieties and they sometimes literally line the shoulders of the highway. Beautiful mixtures of colour. Dont know what they are, perhaps you can id them.

We make the Alaska Hwy

2. Sunset at Colonsay, Saskatchwan
3. Mile 0 of the Alaska Highway
1. Louis Riel statue in Winnipeg
4.First sight of mountains, north of Watson Lake
Well, as mentioned, we have made it to the Alaska Highway and we are now up in Dawson City. I have at last discovered how to use the wireless internet (wi-fi) and the first pictures follow. I will add them in gradually and just go to north of Watson Lake this time.
The highway has been great so far and we have taken the Klondike Loop to get to Dawson City. This is a great place and of course, steeped in the history of the Klondike gold rush that created it.
I see the pictures have downloaded out of order, will try to figure out why next time. Ive numbered them in the meantime

To Dawson Creek, Mile 0 Alaska Highway

This is mile 0 of the Alaska Highway and the trip so far has been uneventful. We left on time on the 14th and stayed over in Terrace Bay, Dryden, Winnipeg - 2 days -, Colonsay, Sask, Fort saskatchewan, Alta, north of Edmonton and on the Stanley Cup final day. We lucked into a municipal campground on the North Sask. River. Then on to Dawson Creek. Very busy here, I think the whole of the US is heading for Alaska! However, this is the jumping off spot and likely to be busier than up the line. The Highway stretches for about 1500 miles from here and we will take our time from here.
I hope to be able to download pictures, but the library - where we are now - does not allow that on their computers.
More later.
